ESD is situated on three campuses and is constantly on the develop. It currently has 248,000 sq . ft . (23,000 m²) in facilities. The campus housing the Middle and Upper Schools can be found on Midway Road and spans more than 39 acres (160,000 m2). The initial building – the gymnasium – was completed in the late 1970s. Classes were held in the gym before main building was finished in 1981. A major continuing development of the key building was carried out 1986. This expansion included a library, publication suite, fine arts facilities, classrooms, and offices. The Cook Science and math building was finished in 1994. It houses the science labs, math classrooms, and a couple computer labs. All Saints Chapel was opened in 2002 previously, daily chapel had been held during a workout session. The Susan M. Frank Center for Arts and Humanities Building opened in 2005. Together with humanities classrooms and expanded music facilities, it gives you a higher-tech proscenium theater, a black box theater, ceramic studio, plus a darkroom/digital imaging suite. A brand new addendums to the Merrell Road campus can be a 55,000 feet square (5,100 m²) center for arts and humanities along with a new Episcopal School of Dallas stadium complete with state-of-the-art athletic turf, locker rooms, and accommodations for home and visiting fans. ESD’s rural outdoor education center, in northern Collin County, is on 165 acres (.67 km²). The Stephen B. Swann Athletic and Wellness Center opened this season, it houses the Dining Commons, sports and physical eduction facilities, and auxiliary offices. The 100,000+ square foot building includes a competition gymnasium, indoor track, strength and conditioning, along with cardio work-out rooms, sports medicine facilities, a multi-purpose dance studio, expanded locker rooms, a team room and training offices, campus bookstore, and concessions. The new Dining Commons offers a 480-seat dining room overlooking the quarry as well as the Louise Crespi Benners Courtyard, a progressive kitchen and meal serving area, and offices for school auxiliary services. Your kitchen operates as a “laboratory” where students and parents can study nutritional experts and professional chefs. Nutrition-based curriculum continues to be built-into the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools, within the guidance from the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Texas Southwest Clinic as well as the recently formed ESD Nutrition Curriculum Committee. The supreme goal is to influence the neighborhood long after they graduate. One of the schools rivals is Parish Episcopal.
